RENDER - Lena rolls with a pro

Lena is more than a little cocky and arrogant.
I mean she is aware of the fact that there are other grapplers out there better than she is.
When you have the equivalent of a black belt in Brazilian Ju Jitsu you are probably allowed a certain swagger in your step.
One day there are try outs for a pro style roster.
Like WWE? Dena reckons she’s gotta give this a go – how hard can it be?
She even does up a bit of a goth look, let’s try doing the whole heel thing.
The woman she picks out is pretty big in her own right – Dena has seen her before.
Dena knows that her training partner is not at that level of being a black belt, so this is going to be easy.
The bell rings.
That seems like a long time ago.
Someone is shouting regularly. The words are things like “break it!” and counts that never get higher than four.
Dena does distinctly remember that original thumb poke, her eye is still watering a bit.
After that it seems there’s been a lot of getting choked over the ropes, grabbing by the hair, kicking when down.
The most recent event was a whip toss into the corner turnbuckles.
Dena slams back first and it’s like there’s an electric fire running the length of her spine.
Staggering off the turnbuckle and forward she walks right into the sleeper hold, and then staggers a little further to the middle of the ring.
Normally Lena would shake this easy as.
Today her bell has been (metaphorically) rung repeatedly already and her legs aren’t working properly after the turnbuckle slam on her back.
And as the sleeper squeezes in her legs aren’t coming back.
What the hell!
This isn’t fair!!!
What about all the other illegal moves and cheats up to this point?!?!?!
This part is perfectly legal, right in the middle of the ring.
Just where Treena wants it…

RENDER - Dim the lights

If you follow my deviantart page you may know that I recently experimented with my first ever fully nude render.

Thinking further, I have no inclination to go there again.

I simply prefer to have something left to the imagination.

There is *something* about a simple black bikini (or one piece suit) that I *much* prefer.

Kinda like Lena is checking out here.

"How about you put your top on and we put these mats to proper use?"

Lena is a bit bemused.

By comparison Lucy is pretty... Well... Pretty scrawny - by comparison at least.

If you follow my blog you'll also know that I have a tier in my virtual roster, and that Lena is in a significantly higher grade than the Crusher.

Still, Lucy has never shied away from a challenge... But why did she choose this one? Especially with another grappler that's (in)famous for roughing her...

Well actually, what Lena is infamous for is a habit of monstering her opposition.

Lucy just grabbed a serious size mouthful here!

My recent attempts to master seamless texture maps for Genesys 1 or 2 figures have so far been without success.

Unless getting really frustrated counts as a success...

So in a moment to soothe the wounded ego I've done some more stuff using water (shower in this case) props and light rigs.

Like so.

My first ever fully frontal nudes. Unsure if they are the sort of thing I'd come back to, but at least I've done it once and can say so.

Of course Lucy needs to remove her makeup now and then...

RENDER - NSFW, more noise than movement

Things have been a bit hectic lately.

And when I do get to my 3D stuff I'm mostly working on building some new skills.

So not a lot of renders.

Depth of field has been mastered.

My new light rendering kits are still giving me the occasional headache.

I need to sort out how to do seamless texture maps so I can finally start creating back tattoos myself for my virtual wrestlers... That requires a lot more practise, time to practise, and probably a chunky investment in some new software...   :(

Although I have finally mastered how to use my fishnet texture maps on other items, like so (below).

First render is full 4KHD, one after is standard HD.

Diana works in service and management at an "adult" club.

Her work outfits are provocative; she's not typically getting more undressed on an evening.

To garner a bit more interest management comes up with the idea of lingerie wrestling.

Rolling with other women in lingerie? Well Diana *has* to get in on that.

Great success. Just one problem.

Diana can, seriously, legit, wrestle.

After a couple of shows it's obvious that it's not even a contest anymore, Diana just monsters everyone else.

Of course Corveena knows about dancing of that sort, and when conversations cross paths.

A bit of practice in the ring to get used to the outfits. It's all pretty relaxed and casual.

On the night it's still going pretty easy. It's competitive, but neither woman wants to hurt the other...

Which is why, when Diana finally gets Corveena, she's not squeezing the neck that hard.

Just bending her back... Quite a bit...

Still, right up to the end at least there is suspense. Although this may not be genuinely over yet...

RENDER - Dani and Kimiko (didn't graduate that much)

Dani is used to rolling with Jessica and has a lot of practise with "bigger and stronger".

Recently even took that to a new level with Lena for the win.

One of the mistakes a lot of people make is falling for the fallacy that "smaller" is easier than "bigger".

There are a few grapplers at the very top of my virtual roster.

Some of them, like Jessica and Marielle, even Jacelyn, are more muscular and stronger.

Dani has just handled Lena and is feeling a bit cocky. She asks Kimiko to roll.

Jessica is a bit amused. But she's kind of curious herself.

"Keep it friendly guys."

Oh well. Dani gets it now.

No, Kimiko isn't as big or as strong as Jessica.

She's not weakling. When she's working on the mats Dani feels like she's wrestling something made out of sinew and tendon.

But that's not the difference.

You need some strength and fitness to grapple.
There may be an opening from your opponent.

You still have to move into it.

Your opponent is looking for your openings. You need to be able to close those openings or block them.

Kimiko's openings are very, very, very small.

No Kimiko isn't as big either. Dani gets that this isn't necessarily a good thing either.

Kimiko is finding more openings in more places than Dani thought possible, and Dani is expending a lot of her strength blocking and trying to close those openings before it's too late.

Dani gets caught in a one arm choke. Breathe, bend, flex, she manages to get out.

Kimiko is impressed, and changes tactics slightly.

Now Dani has a new problem. Kimiko moves, Dani blocks, Dani panics.

It seems every time Kimiko makes a move now it's a feint, and as Dani blocks one thing she's leaving herself open more for the next.

And finally she gets caught.

The triangle isn't locked in yet. Kimiko has moved into the opening, she hasn't gone completely past it yet though.

Patience, first she sets position.

Dani sees what's coming, even with her flexibility the opening to escape is very, very small.

Kimiko bends forward and locks down, that opening to escape is gone now.

Dani is trying to bridge and twist. Kimiko isn't that big or that strong, except that right now it feels to Dani like she's under a car.

Kimiko flexes and pulls, this would be a choke out for almost anyone else.

Dani breathes and bends and keeps working.

Kimiko is impressed.

But then...

There was no escape. That door was closed.

What just happened now feels less like a door and more like a belt, one that just got tightened to half it's length.

Dani taps...

Kimiko is impressed.

"Your defense is pretty awesome. Long time since someone made me work that hard."

"Your offense is nearly non-existent. You spend too much time waiting for someone to make a mistake or fall for an obvious fake."

"Work on that and let me know sometime..."

RENDER - Lena and Dani (recent graduate)

Dani graduated ranks recently...

She probably would have come further and faster.

Problem is... Well...

Problem is that Dani is, at her heart, a pacifist.

If you want to get to that really elite level you have to be willing to keep going, especially when your opponent isn't willing to tap.

Think about it. If the person you're rolling with isn't willing to tap... If they refuse...

Would you be willing to break their arm? Or worse???

Dani recently overcame this partially. Choking someone out doesn't injure them. Dani can make herself ok with that.

Credit Jacelyn (The Silent Strangler, formerly the Singapore Strangler) for that tip and related training.

Jacelyn's girlfriend, Jessica, has another idea to help more.

So Jessica convinces Dani to call out Lena.

The match is pretty even. Couple of close falls...

Dani still lacks that "killer" instinct...

Jessica knew what she was doing, and sure enough.

When Lena gets top position she uses her strength and size, a lot.

She "monsters" her opponents.

A forearm across the throat is part of that.

Dani is not enjoying this, but she's struggling to do much about it.

Instead, right now, she's getting angry.

And angrier.

And angrier...

Someone has just decided to find and use their inner mongrel.

Step one is sweep and roll. Still in guard, but gravity isn't helping the arm on the neck any more.

Step two, posture up. Lean is trying to sweep or roll, but she's getting blocked every time.

Lena is starting to wonder what's going on here?

Dani isn't going to injure Lena here...

But this can cause an awful lot of *hurt*...

Lena doesn't tap, she is desperate to escape.

In the scramble and twist Lena gives up full mount.

Dani is ok with this. She's got something specific in mind.

Unsure what rule book covers this, if any at all?

Dani still has something specific in mind here though.

Lena is desperate to escape being smothered, so she turns, giving up her back.

Dani takes that.

And now Lena  realises the severity of the mistake she just made.

Lena has an octopus latched onto her back.

No matter how she twists and turns Dani's hooks are in solid, and her balance is spot on.

One moment her arm is being dislocated at the shoulder one way, then another.
And now realisation.. Defending her arm...

The arm was never the target, and now Dani has Lena's neck.

Lena needs all of her power, and she just barely makes it onto her hands and knees.

Too little too late, Dani pulls and, as Lena's knees and arms lose strength she's rolled over like a turtle with Dani making like a shell.

There's a sensation, like a rushing train running through your head.

Time to tap out.

Which Lena does.

A choke out doesn't cause injury, which is why Dani is ok listening to her inner mongrel.

She doesn't let go.

RENDER - Itch is scratched, time to move on

Lena here again.

Enough with the lights and water and wet skin maps.

Time to move on...

RENDER - More test runs of the new light rigs

I think I've got it...

Finally I seem to be able to get these right consistently!

Alas Lena has bitten off way more than, well more than pretty much anyone can chew (with only a few possible exceptions).

Marielle is after all one of the elite guns in my virtual roster.

RENDER - Dani and Jess playing pass the guard (and go for the RNC)

So I was writing (whinging?) earlier about the challenges I was having with a new set of light rigs...

I think I've maybe possibly about gotten there?

Dani and Jess go back (see earlier posts here or my blog for more details).

They are good friends and Dani has gone from novice to threatening in a very short period.

Her big shortcoming is... Well to put it bluntly sometimes you need a little bit of a mean streak, and that's not Dani.

Today she's passing guard pass with Jessica. Jess is not holding anything back, but so far she's not being very threatened either.

Jess keeps sliding her hips to one side, despite Dani's best efforts.

The last time two things happen...

Jess is certain she hears Dani say "ah ha" this time when she slides to back.

Maybe someone has been paying attention and just figured out how someone else is doing something?

The second thing is that, and Jess really isn't holding back much here, Dani manages to escape and, somehow, twist back into guard.

Jess tries to slide her hips again. This time Dani doesn't just block, she somehow gets one arm under Jess's leg.

Just like that she passes guard. Jess's eyes furrow. From bottom mount she sweeps back to top position in Dani's guard. And then...

Holy crap, Dani just slid her hips out and Jess didn't block!

Jess is not holding anything back, it doesn't matter.

Well this is looking at things from a different angle...

"Jacelyn explained to me, if you don't want to injure someone, just choke them out. She's been helping me practice."

I think someone has graduated a level on the mats?

RENDER - Lucy extended bio

Lucy entered this world with the brightest red hair.

Make of that what you will.

She was walking early and running not long after that.

Her childhood was profoundly unremarkable. Yes other kids teased her about her hair. No it never bothered her because she wouldn’t let it and she was not shy about confronting her tormentors and bullies.

And very early on she decided she loved the single braid look.

Until one day a boy in her class took it a new level. When she wasn’t looking he grabbed her braid and yanked it – HARD.

She did not cry. She yelled. She did not cry.

And with an purpose she’d not known before she turned to look at the stupid smiling face of the dumb ass kid who thought this was funny.

And with that purpose she brought her left hand up in a fist and smashed that stupid smiling look right off his face.

The teacher didn’t see the hair-pull. And by the time they’ve turned around someone else is already making a lot of noise.

The teachers seemed angriest over the fact that Lucy felt no shame or embarrassment over what she’d don’t. She wasn’t feeling bad about it and she sure as hell wasn’t going to apologise for it.

She was suspended for a week and her parents had to take turns taking time off work.

After Lucy explained what had happened they weren’t inclined to ask her for an apology either.

Instead they looked online and found a few places locally...

Lucy never stuck with one thing, she preferred the variety. So after a little bit of boxing, a little bit of judo, and a little bit of wrestling she was pretty rounded.

In high school when another boy yanks her braid he’s more careless and the teacher sees it. This time Lucy doesn’t so much knock the stupid look of his face as the stupid look, what used to be his nose, and.. Yep, that’s a tooth on the floor.

Suspended again; at least she’s old enough that her parents don’t have to miss work.

Lucy is already on the high school wrestling team. Genius should have considered that in the first instance. Her cred is up several notches when she gets pack, but there’s a problem.

The team is co-ed, there aren’t enough young women for their own team.

Genius with the new nose job and expensive dental bill is one of the guys on the team, and he has mates.

Lucy has never backed down from a fight until now. She’s not going to start.

She gets smashed around pretty rough. She refuses to quit. There are a lot of bruises and a couple of concussions. The coach recognises the problem and asks to talk to Lucy and her parents.

When they meet she’s spitting fire, and she won’t quit.

Instead she gets better.

Before long she’s giving as good as she gets.

Not long after that there’s been a change in the dynamics of the team.

The guys thought they could hurt her and scare her off.

Now they are the ones scared of her.

And “The Crusher” is born – right there on the high school wrestling team.

So Lucy has solved her problem. There’s still a matter of balance though.

Graduation and Lucy is done with high school.

At the graduation party she meets the genius again. He’s scared of her and with cause.

She’s happy with that, she wishes for more. She gets it...

The genius speaks, “Can I have a private word with you someplace?”

They’re outside. It’s just started getting dark and they’re under a tree away from the crowd.

“You broke my nose and wrecked my teeth. I haven’t forgotten that. Do you want to apologise? If you don’t I will make you pay for it!”

Lucy keeps very, very calm...

“You want an apology from me?”

“Damn right!”

“And if I don’t?”

Apparently not, he grab’s Lucy’s hair with one hand and one of her breasts with the other, and he squeezes *hard*.

Genius has had a couple of beers, does he remember nothing? He’s a lot bigger than Lucy so he never rolled on the mats with her due to weight limits, it was all of his smaller friends who got brutalised instead. Maybe that’s why he thinks this is an ok idea?

“If you don’t I will get mine back!”

Lucy isn’t even angry.

It’s like the heavens heard her prayers and answered them.

Lucy has done a little bit of Muay Thai. Not a lot. A little bit.

That knee; landing where it does; well someone is going to need a lot longer than a minute...

Then, force of habit, right jab first. It’s like just *so* perfect. Right on the nose and the crunch isn’t as loud as the squish.

And before genius has even realised how much pain he’s in, here comes the left.

Lucy hurts her hand. She can feel something break. She felt something else break now also.

Look – there’s more teeth on the ground!

This time police get involved. Dad of genius reckons he’ll sort this out and get an example made of Lucy.

While she’s being arrested Lucy says three things.

“Look under his fingernails. You’ll find my hair and skin and the matching scratches are behind my ear.”

“I need a doctor to examine me right away – I have a bruise on my breast to show you.”

“I’m done talking – I want a laywer.”

It goes to court. Karma is great and three other young women come forward to admit that genius assaulted them also and they wish they’d had Lucy’s “pluck”.

Acquittal and genius is the one who goes away.

Lucy decides to go to a trade school. She’s unsure what she wants to do so she picks up some carpentry, then some electrical...

It’s in a drafting class that she meets someone new – and she can’t stop looking.

Her classmate has a tattoo sleeve. Lucy thinks!!!

Get gets a job working as an aide in a tattoo parlour. She doesn’t get that much ink herself, mainly the sleeve she wanted so badly for herself the first time she saw it.

She likes not needing skirts and heels or safety boots. She likes that she can dress and make up however she goddamned pleases and that here, this is an asset – not a liability.

She becomes a pretty awesome tattooist in her own right.

It’s a poster on a telephone pole that makes her stop and ask “what the”?!?!

And that’s how she discovers roller derby.

Takes her awhile to get good on skates. She’s still not the best on skates. She has other skills to compensate.

The Crusher is back in business again.

Lucy wonders about the future a little bit. She’s an assistant manager at the tattoo place but that doesn’t pay great and it’s unsure what kind of future it will hold. She can sort a few things around the house on her own so that helps save, but she knows someday she needs to get into something more.

One day she rolls with Eloise.

The next week she’s serving at a pretty glitzy restaurant.

Turns out she likes the heels and dresses. It’s even fun to lose the braid now and again.

That was a while ago. She’s assistant manager at the restaurant now also.

Well at least money isn’t a worry, and she’s got skills, experience (and references) that mean it won’t ever be...

RENDER - Dani's expanded bio

Dani's parents are... Well...

Basically they're hippies.

This explains a lot about Dani.

Early on she knew how to spend time outdoors, everything from gardening to hiking.

At an early age she discovered a talent for climbing. Trees to begin with.

Rock faces not long after that..

A lot of parents would be horrified. "That's dangerous and she could get hurt!"

Like true hippies Dani's parents weren't big on what people aren't allowed to do.

Did we mention that Dani's mum was an engineer, and became that in an era when that was distinctly uncommon for women. Dani's dad was the artist. Same again for young men.

The conundrum here is that mum and dad were a pretty awesome partnership back in the day and thanks to some brilliant design work there are more than a few buildings and bridges (complete with community areas and parks) that Dani is familiar with indeed.

To put it bluntly, Dani's parents could afford to own... Well an awful lot of stuff!

They live in a modest house. The bulk of their clothes are second hand. No big screens, just lots of solar panels.

The car is expensive only because... Well Tesla’s aren’t that cheap yet I guess.

Between op-shop clothes, a modest lifestyle, and atypical gender roles, Dani doesn’t look at the world the same way many others do.

And now Dani has grown up in a world with a great deal of freedom and role models that make it very clear to her - the only limit on what you can do (or be) is you.

No one and nothing else can put limits on you.

Dani does ok in school. Actually she does better than that, especially in maths and science for that matter. Just because there's nothing you can't do doesn't mean that aren't some things you have to be and mom does have certain expectations here.

So besides freedom Dani also understands the concepts of having a sense of purpose in life and being self-sufficient.

She’s going to do what she wants and she does not need anyone to look after her.

Her parents do not disapprove of college.
Mum is disappointed that the degree is in philosophy.
Dad is perfectly happy.

College is also where she picks up a lot of other experiences, we’ll come back to that later...

There is one fright.

Dani has a few drinks at a party and ends up alone with a guy who has problems with the word “no”.

Dani isn’t afraid and starts making a lot of noise.

Others hear and the guy gets a forceful explanation on the English language from the boyfriend of her best friend (all-state middle linebacker).

Dani is shaken and upset.

She thinks about it and makes a conscious decision that she will not live in fear though.

She gets a few self defence lessons and knows to be more careful in future.

(Author’s side note here – it pisses me off that we spend more time asking women to be careful than we do teaching men to be not assholes)

Then there’s that other incident. Annoyance really... It’s not like she needed the cast longer than a couple of months. Oh well. Never too late to learn that when rock climbing it is best to avoid things like falling.

When the cast is off Dani finds out she’s lost a lot of strength in that arm.

She needs to get that back before she can start back on the rock wall.

Lifting weights seems... She does it a bit. It’s really not for her.

The doctor suggests yoga?

Well that does really seem to be for her!

A lot of it comes naturally. Her flexibility improves (it was pretty awesome to begin with) and now she’s able to tackle some even tougher faces. Best of all you can do it outside!

That's how Jessica and Dani meet (find out about Jessica here).

Talking gets to laughing which gets to more talking.

And just like that a friendship is struck.

Jogging climbing together Dani asks Jessica if she'd like to learn yoga.

Jessica says sure.

And Dani asks what Jessica's first sport is.

"You mean like WWE?"

No. Not like WWE.

Easier to show...

Dani likes this too, even if it's not outside.

So starting off Dani’s game comes a long way really, really fast.

And with her flexibility and conditioning from rock climbing and yoga her bottom game is amazing. In no time at all even Jessica is struggling to pass from Dani’s guard.

Perhaps Dani’s one shortcoming is that she’s... Well timid isn’t the right word. It’s just that her defence when grappling is way ahead of her offense.

But if she does get your back and get her hooks in... Well you may want to consider getting comfortable because you won't be going anyplace soon.

And forget punching or kicking. She’s happy just to roll.

And because they are friends and because they hang at the gym and outside they occasionally hang inside with a glass of wine or a beer even.

And it’s after a couple of those drinks one night when Jessica looks at Dani in a way that she hasn’t before.

Dani recognises the look.

Like I said, she experienced a few things in college.

So when Jessica holds of Dani’s face and leans in Dani isn’t surprised.

When Jessica leans back her look is a little more stricken.

Dani laughs and jumps Jessica, bringing their mouths together again. This time it’s Dani who pulls back.

“Sorry Jess. I’ve tried it. If you want it that bad I can do some stuff. I simply prefer guys. Please tell me we’re still ok to be mates?”

Jessica doesn't want it so bad that she's willing to ask that of a friend. Instead the question is “Did you know?”

Dani laughs. “How much time have we spent on the mats?

Yeah I figured that one out pretty early. So long as you’re ok it’s not me, I’m ok that it is you.”

So they remain friends, probably better than before even.

One day in the gym Dani notices Jacelyn and then she notices Jessica looking at Jacelyn.

“Why are you looking at her like that?”

Startled at an unexpected question Jessica stammers. “Oh she's a bitch and I don’t like her.”

Dani smiles... “No. That wasn't that look.”

Jessica is a bit embarrassed. Dani's joke that Jess like’s them buxom makes her face flush.

One day Dani comes across Jacelyn with a stricken look on her face, and asks what the problem is.

Jacelyn groans... “Me and my big goddamned mouth was putting crap on your girlfriend earlier and now I’m going to get the crap kicked out of me.”

Maybe it’s poor form, but sometimes you gotta help a friend out.

So Dani whispers into Jacelyn’s ear.

“She’s angry. She's not a bitch. If you don’t put up much of a fight she won’t be able to bring herself to hurt you."

Jacelyn looks at Dani forlornly. Really?

"Yes really. Oh and if you ask her out after she’ll say yes.”

Jacelyn’s eyes widen.

Dani is pretty perceptive.
"I know how she looks at you when she thinks no one is watching. I also know how you look at her when you think no one is watching."

You can find out how that one ended here.

and here

Dani and Jessica are still very much good friends.

So much so that Dani likes to joke about where Jessica’s girlfriend is ever upset by the amount of time she spends with her other girlfriend.
